About Us

Discover our journey, vision, and commitment to sustainable development through interdisciplinary research and global excellence.

Background

Our Story

Founded in Mirsharai, Chattogram, Noya Dalan Research Center has evolved into a borderless center of excellence committed to high-quality, interdisciplinary research addressing social, economic, cultural, and environmental challenges. By linking local realities with global perspectives, we transform knowledge into practical and sustainable solutions for long-term development.

With the establishment of the country's largest Economic Zone in Mirsarai Upazila, this geographically resource-rich region began a period of profound environmental, socio-economic, and infrastructural transformation. Recognizing the need to mitigate potential adverse impacts and to safeguard public interests within government development initiatives and policy frameworks, a group from civil society—led by Mr. Md. M. Mahiuddin Chowdhury—took the initiative to establish the Noya Dalan Research Center.

Through a constructive synergy between government institutions and citizens, a shared vision for sustainable development emerged, culminating in the formulation of the Mirsarai Upazila Master Plan and the Economic Zone Master Plan. Building on the success and recognition of these initiatives, Noya Dalan has since expanded its scope beyond the boundaries of the Upazila. Today, it actively collaborates with various government agencies, universities, and national and international development-oriented organizations to advance research, policy support, and sustainable development practices.

Founding Noya Dalan was driven by the belief that evidence-based research, inclusive dialogue, and responsible policy can guide development without compromising people, culture, or environment. What began as a response to local transformation has grown into a broader commitment—to connect public interest with policy action and to advance a shared vision of sustainable, equitable progress for Bangladesh.
